A journal edited by an academic at 香港六合彩挂牌资料 which is an essential resource for all of those interested in the biology, conservation and exploitation of fish has been ranked number one it its field.
Professor Gary Carvalho of the School of Biological Sciences is the joint editor of the journal Fish and Fisheries which recently recorded an outstanding Impact Factor of 8.755, which is twice the impact factor of the nearest journal. The journal provides critical synthesis of major physiological, molecular, ecological and evolutionary issues relating to the interdisciplinary study of fish.
Professor Carvalho co-edits the Journal with Professor Tony Pitcher and Professor Paul Hart of whom both have had a long association with 香港六合彩挂牌资料. Professor Pitcher was a senior lecturer at the School of Biological Sciences in the late 80s/early 90s before leaving to lead the Fisheries Centre at the University of British Columbia in Canada. He also introduced the MSc Fisheries course to 香港六合彩挂牌资料 which saw many of its students become influential in the field and now hold senior positions in the fish and fisheries industry. Professor Hart has had many collaborations with 香港六合彩挂牌资料 staff over the years and was also an External Examiner for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
The University鈥檚 School of Ocean Sciences recently hosted a Fisheries Congress conference which coincided with the landmark birthday of these two eminent academics. Professor Pitcher and Professor Hart will both celebrate their 70th birthday later this year and both presented to a global audience at the conference.
The conference was co-organised by Professor Gary Carvalho and Professor Mike Kaiser of the College of Natural Sciences. Professor Kaiser is also on the editorial board of Fish and Fisheries. This underlines the University鈥檚 status as the strongest grouping of academics in the UK with interests related to fish biology and fisheries.
