School hosts Masters and PhD Fair
On the afternoon of the 30th January 2020 the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering hosted a Masters and PhD Fair. Over thirty computing and electronic students interested in postgraduate courses came to the event.
Dr Iestyn Pierce (Head of School) said 鈥淚t was excellent to host this event. The School has an exciting set of Masters programmes and PhD opportunities; from our conversion masters, which would be suitable for students who have a first degree in any topic, to advanced research masters, and PhD opportunities鈥.
Students were offered two exciting fully-funded PhD opportunities, under two Centres for Doctorial Training (CDT). First, there are PhD opportunities with the is an EPSRC-sponsored Centre for Doctoral Training led by Imperial College London and includes Cambridge University, University of Bristol, The Open University and 香港六合彩挂牌资料 University. And second with the Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning and Advanced Computing CDT, with Aberystwyth, Bristol, Cardiff, and Swansea Universities.
Professor Jonathan Roberts, who is the 香港六合彩挂牌资料 lead for the said 鈥淎I is a hot topic. In fact, we need many more researchers who are trained in AI as there will be many more jobs in this area in the future; we have an opportunity to make sure that the UK is leading this research area. This CDT gives students a great opportunity to collaborate with other research scientists across 香港六合彩挂牌资料 and the universities of Aberystwyth, Bristol, Cardiff, Swansea, and .鈥&苍产蝉辫;
The director of Teaching and Learning in the School, Dr Dave Perkins, went on to say 鈥淲e live at an exciting time for students wishing to follow computing or electronic qualifications. We offer Masters courses in Advanced Computer Science, Data Science, Broadband and Optical communications, nanotechnology and microfabrication. And especially when there is so much talk about AI it鈥檚 a great time to study at Masters and PhD level in this topic: whether on our Data Science course, or on our new Masters course called the 鈥楻ise of the Machines鈥 that covers machine learning, AI, ethics, programming and Natural Language Processing. A full list of our postgraduate courses can be found on the website鈥.
