COP26: Green Shoots or Storm Clouds? – recording of public lecture available
A rich partnership has developed since the mid-1980s between Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ×ÊÁÏ and the Menai Branch of the United Nations Association. The two bodies share many basic principles that are underlined in annual public lectures sponsored jointly by both. Over the years, a wealth of lectures have been delivered on contemporary issues by eminent experts from near and far.
Last year’s lecture on Zoom was presented by Professor Julia Jones from the School of Natural Sciences as she looked forward to the COP-26 conference in Glasgow. The task facing this year’s lecture by Emeritus Professor Gareth Wyn Jones was to assess the impact of that conference on the climate change emergency. Gareth’s presentation was Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ×ÊÁÏ’s first post-Covid hybrid public lecture, attracting a live audience in the Eric Sunderland Lecture Theatre while simultaneously reaching a significant number of Zoom participants.
