Confucius institute co-hosts winter school on further critical thinking!
Following the successful course last summer, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ×ÊÁÏ’s Confucius Institute (BUCI) and China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) co-hosted a follow-up online Winter school on Further critical thinking. The course was set out to encourage students to process and analyse facts to make an informed opinion, which is an essential skill for life, not merely a learning process.
The Winter school was designed and delivered by Anthony Brooks between the 6th -16th of January, 2023. Anthony commented:
‘This series of nine classes encouraged these young CUPL Critical Thinkers to attain valuable traits and skills essential in many aspects of their daily lives and their academic studies. This fun interactive course set out to encourage students to participate in diverse subjects such as analysing the components of an argument, recognising how adverting seeks to manipulate, perceiving how fallacies can occur in arguments, how to think ‘artfully’ and understanding how rhetoric works and just how a study of Shakespeare can synthesise all these thinking skills.Ìý The students have all had their perceptions sharpened, and it has been gratifying to witness such insightful astuteness in so many of their observations during the sessions. ‘

The feedback from the students was excellent!
‘I think the online Winter School is perfect. I am very grateful to the school for giving us this opportunity to participate in it. I enjoyed every lesson!’
‘I was able to talk to the teacher in every class, and the teacher often encouraged me, which gave me much confidence to speak English and stimulated my motivation to practice speaking. The Critical thinking school taught me many things I didn't know before.’
‘Love the one-on-one questions and answers in class as they made the course easier to understand
