Sarah Graduated in the year 2000 with a degree in German and has now returned to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ×ÊÁÏ to undertake a Law degree.
Tell us a bit about your experience at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ×ÊÁÏ….Ìý
I loved my time at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ×ÊÁÏ. I studied (and played) hard, made some lifelong friends, and fell in love with the area.Ìý
Why did you choose to study at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ×ÊÁÏ?Ìý
I chose to study at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ×ÊÁÏ because of its location. ÌýI enjoy spending time outside; therefore, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ×ÊÁÏ was ideally situated for accessing the mountains and lakes of Snowdonia and the beaches of Anglesey.Ìý
How has your career developed since graduating from Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ×ÊÁÏ, and what is your current job role?Ìý
I worked for thirteen and a half years for the National Trust in North Wales in a variety of different roles but had to consider a new pathway following the Covid-19 pandemic. ÌýHaving worked in roles where understanding various bits of law had been essential, I decided to retrain and came back to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ×ÊÁÏ to undertake a law degree. ÌýI am in the final semester of the course and will hopefully graduate this summer before going on to complete the next steps towards becoming a solicitor.Ìý
In what way did studying at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ×ÊÁÏ enhance your employability?Ìý
Undertaking a modern languages degree gave me the skills to be able to learn other languages. ÌýAfter graduating, I remained in North Wales and committed to learning Welsh, not just to help with employability but because there is something very enchanting about the Welsh language and culture, and I wanted to be a part of that. Ìý
The year I spent abroad provided valuable experience and insight into teaching and delivering training to others has been a key part of my career since graduating. ÌýThe year abroad also helped me develop independence, resilience and the ability to plan, skills which undoubtedly helped me take on management roles.Ìý
Crucially, doing a degree taught me to be curious about the world around me and to enjoy learning. ÌýAs a result, I have regularly undertaken additional study whilst working full-time, which has improved my CV and given me career opportunities that I would not have had without continuous professional development. ÌýÌý
What advice would you give to students studying in Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ×ÊÁÏ? Ìý
Take every opportunity given to you and maximise your potential.Ìý
