Lecturer in Sociology and Equalities Lead for the School of History Philosophy and Social Sciences (SHIPS)
After completing a degree in Sociology at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ×ÊÁÏ, Corinna then went on to work in the Mental Health Voluntary Sector as a Community Development Worker, before returning to full-time education in 2003 after being awarded ESRC (European Social Research Council) funding to complete an MA in Sociology and Social Policy and a PhD at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ×ÊÁÏ: ‘Wales in a Global Neighbourhood: Perspectives of and Reactions to Local and Global Citizenship’. Her PhD looked into issues of local and global civic empowerment and how globalization impacts different locations and communities.

Teaching and Supervision
During her postgraduate years, she was given opportunities to teach at an undergraduate level and found she developed a passion for teaching. Modules taught to date are: Social Analysis, Perspectives in Social Sciences, Research Methods (undergraduate and postgraduate levels), Identity and Diversity, Study Skills and has contributed to a postgraduate Communities Studies module.

- Sioned Page Jones(PhD) - 2017-2020 - P.I. Supervisor for a KESS-11 funded PhD for Ynni Padarn-Peris Cyf, in conjunction with Sophie Wyn Jones (Co-supervisor) from Synergy. The PhD is looking at how Local hydro-energy schemes are established and how they benefit communities.

Research Interests
Corinna’s interests are generally on issues related to globalization and geo-politics including: Citizenship and civic empowerment, local and global concepts of belonging and identity, community, identity, issues of inequality (race, class, gender and intersectionality), environmental sociology, rationalization of the ‘other’ (human and non-human animals).
