The successful candidates will receive the Merit Scholarship in the first year, with the award being paid at the end of November.

List of Entrance Scholarships available

Dr William Jones Williams Scholarships (拢1,500)*

A native of Tremadog in North Wales, Dr William Jones Williams (1841 - 1920) enjoyed a successful career as a doctor in North Yorkshire. He is remembered as one of the University's most generous contributors, and two scholarships bear his name. One of these scholarships is open to all candidates and the other is restricted to candidates who are natives of Wales and who have been educated at secondary schools in Wales.

Dr E.T. Davies Scholarship (拢1,500)*

Established in 1962 under the will of Dr E.T. Davies of Liverpool, and open to candidates who are natives of Wales and have been educated at secondary schools in Wales.

John Hughes Scholarship (拢1,500)*

Established in 1906 under the will of Alderman John Hughes J.P. of Liverpool, and open to candidates born in or resident in the counties of Anglesey, Conwy and Gwynedd.

Richard Hughes Scholarship (拢1,500)*

Established in 1904 under the will of Richard Hughes of Llanfwrog, Anglesey, and open to candidates born in or resident in the counties of Anglesey, Conwy and Gwynedd.

Thomas Hughes Scholarship (拢1,500)*

Established in 1973 under the will of Thomas Hughes of Valley, Anglesey, and open to candidates born in or resident in the counties of Anglesey, Conwy and Gwynedd.

William Pritchard Scholarship (拢1,500)*

Offered in memory of the late William Pritchard, and open to candidates born in or resident in the counties of Anglesey, Conwy and Gwynedd.

Lady Gladstone Scholarship (拢1,500)*

Offered in memory of Lady Gladstone of Hawarden, a member of the University Council who died in 1941. Open to candidates born in or resident in the counties of Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham Maelor.

Piercy Scholarship (拢1,500)*

Established in 1908 under the will of Benjamin Piercy of Wrexham, and open to candidates born in or resident in Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, and Wrexham Maelor.

Anna Boyd Scholarship (拢300)*

Established in 1938 under the will of Miss Anna Frances Elizabeth Boyd of Cheltenham, and open to candidates who are former pupils of Ysgol Eifionydd, Porthmadog, preference being given to those from Cricieth.

Rosa Hovey Memorial Scholarship (拢1,500)*

The scholarship is provided from the income of gifts made to the University of Wales in October 1934, and January 1949, by the late Miss Ethel M Hovey, of Colwyn Bay. The award is open to a female student who received their secondary education in North Wales.听 Preference will be given to a student from the present borough of Colwyn or surrounding areas.听 After which the award is opened to applicants from the former counties of Caernarvonshire or Denbighshire and then the whole of North Wales.

School of Law Scholarship 拢3000 Candidates wishing to study any undergraduate degree course within the School of Law.
Normal Fund Scholarship 拢500 Applicants wishing to study any undergraduate degree course within the School of Education.
School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Scholarships 拢1500 The School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering is offering three scholarships to those wishing to study any undergraduate degree course within the School of Electronic Engineering. The Scholarships are worth 拢1500 and will be paid in the first year of the course.
