Education and Student Experience Award

Formerly known as the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ×ÊÁÏ Teaching Fellowship, the Education and Student Experience Award rewards staff who have made an outstanding impact on teaching and learning support activities that benefit the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ×ÊÁÏ student experience. This prestigious award comes with a £2,000 award to the winner’s personal overhead account.ÌýA maximum of 10 awards will be awarded each year. Nominations open in the spring, with successful recipients invited to receive their award during the week of Summer Graduation.

Only one staff member may be nominated per School or Service Department, and nominations must consist of:

  • A nomination letter written by the Head of School or Service Department providing a supportive account of the nominee’s excellence in their practice, in relation to the four criteria.
  • A document mapping the nominee's teaching and learning activities against the four criteria.

The Education and Student Experience Award Panel, chaired by Professor Nicky Callow, will assess each nomination against the four criteria:

  • Excellence in enhancement and/or innovation
  • Excellence in impact
  • Excellence in scholarship
  • Excellence in leadership

Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence

Has your Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ×ÊÁÏ team brought about significant positive change in practice for colleagues or students at an institutional or discipline level? If so, CELT wants to put you forward for a Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE). This Advance HE award schemeÌý recognises and celebrates successful academic teams who have demonstrated an outstanding impact on teaching and learning by working in collaboration. Only one team can be nominated each year per HE institution.

We are yet to have a CATE winning team and are always on the lookout for a suitable high performing team to nominate for this prestigious prize.Ìý

To apply, teams must submit a 4,500-word claim setting out how they meet the eligibility criteria, demonstrating evidence of excellence in:

  • The team’s approach to working collaboratively, commensurate with their context and the opportunities afforded by it
  • Having a demonstrable impact on teaching and learning, including beyond their immediate academic or professional area

This needs to be accompanied with accompanying paperwork and a signed statement of support. .
