Overview
The 'Writer's Room' is a screenwriting module where you will have the opportunity to collaboratively work together over a period of time, developing an idea for a proposed television series.
A writers' room is a space within the television industry where writers gather to write and refine scripts on a regular basis. On this module you will have the opportunity to explore how these processes work in practice, what does it mean to work as a team in regards to screenwriting and how does the industry develop these structures in preparation for film production.
Explore screenwriting methods and application through practice.
Evaluate narrative construction across genres and exploring the fundamental principles and techniques for writing for the screen.
Explore the collaborative process of developing a 'bible' for a proposed television series.
Engage in regular constructive feedback on re-drafting scripts within the writers' room to ensure reflective practice is present through out term.

Threshold (D- to D+) 鈥nowledge of key areas/principles only 鈥eaknesses in understanding of main areas 鈥imited evidence of background study 鈥erformance or written response only poorly focussed on question and with some irrelevant material and poor structure 鈥rguments presented but lack coherence 鈥everal factual/computational errors/unconvincing performance 鈥o original interpretation 鈥nly major links between topics are described 鈥eak group skills 鈥any weaknesses in presentation/performance and accuracy

Description
In development towards the proposed television series, 'bible' for the final assessment at the end of term, a sequence of tasks will be applied through out the first half of term to ensure key techniques and processes have been established. The portfolio will consist of a number of required content, such as an 'outline', 'synopsis', 'character biographies' for example.

Description
At the end of term, a 'Bible' for a proposed television series will be submitted as a class, where everyone will have contributed towards the overall body of work. This will consists of an extensive body of writing with everyone contributing an episode of screenwriting towards it.
