Overview
The DSP Centre was awarded 拢50,000 from the Wales Innovation Network Pump-priming projects funding stream in Spring 2022. The funding enabled the DSP Centre to develop four portable prototypes based on the Centre鈥檚 proposed and theoretically / experimentally verified cutting-edge technologies. The four prototypes were unveiled at a launch event of the North Wales Growth Deal (NWGD) DSP project, to demonstrate the DSP Centre鈥檚 technical achievements to date.
Prototypes
拢40k was utilized for purchasing essential electrical/optical components and equipment required in developing the prototypes and the corresponding demonstration systems.
- Distributed fibre optic sensing (DFOS)
- Physical layer secure optical networks (PLSON)
- 5G-based VR/AR (XR) applications
- Visible light communication (VLC)
Launch Event
拢10k was utilized for partially funding the launch event of the NWGD DSP project.
A successful launch event showcasing the four portable prototypes took place on 21st July 2022 with Welsh Government First Minister Rt Hon Mark Drakeford, and UK Government Minister David T.C. Davies in attendance along with ~80 project partners and stakeholders. Also showcased at the event was the new capital equipment purchased with the North Wales Growth Deal awarded funding (Year 1) as well as the DSP Centre鈥檚 cutting-edge research activities across the whole ICT spectrum.
